Lafarge Malayan Cement Berhad was incorporated in 1950 and was publicly listed on The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia) in 1961. It is the parent of a group of companies in Malaysia and Singapore whose core businesses are in the manufacturing and sale of cement, ready-mixed concrete and other related building materials. It became part of Lafarge Group, following Lafarge’s acquisition of Blue Circle in 2001.
Lafarge is the largest cement manufacturer in Malaysia and operates a nationwide network of facilities, including 3 integrated plants in Kanthan (Perak), Rawang (Selangor) & Langkawi (Kedah) and a grinding plant in Pasir Gudang (Johor) with distribution channels by road, rail and sea. We currently employ more than 1,100 people in our Cement business. In our Concrete business, there are more than 29 ready-mixed batching plants throughout Peninsular Malaysia with a workforce of more than 300 employees. We employ about 90 people in our Aggregates business and operate 5 quarries, which are ideally located to serve the whole of Malaysia.

Lafarge Malaysia’s Young Engineers Programme is designed to develop a pool of young talents and to ensure they have the highest standards of technical and managerial knowledge and expertise. The engineers recruited under this programme are enrolled into Lafarge’s Cement Professional Development Programme conducted worldwide. This 18 months programme exposes the engineers to all aspects of our industrial operations and is structured to include on-the-job training, training sessions, individual work assignments and formal coaching by their immediate supervisors. Lafarge Malaysia also developed a Graduate Trainee Programme for its Aggregates and Concrete businesses, entailing a 1 year intensive on-the job training for young graduates of various fields. They are exposed to various aspects of plant management which includes safety, production, logistics, quality and people management.
Lafarge Malaysia prefers to grow its own talent and promotes from within, wherever possible.
